Uttarakhand: The Next Winter Sports Destination

If you prefer to fight winter winds and snowfall in mountains, trekking is the appropriate adventure activity for you since it allows you to explore different flora and wildlife, picturesque communities, and absorb local culture and food.

While Uttarakhand has traditionally drawn pilgrims and adventure travellers due to its mountains and valleys, there has been a significant increase in winter tourism.

Given its popularity with travellers from all across India, the Uttarakhand government has proclaimed that Auli would be a year-round tourism destination, and development work is already beginning to make this a reality. In fact, Auli will shortly host the national winter games.

In Betuidhar, Dayara Bugyal, Mundali, and Khaliya top, skiing is also popular. The latter is located in Kumaon district and is 3,500 metres high, providing a breathtaking view of Panchachuli, Rajrambha, Hardeol, and Nanda Kot in Pithoragarh's Kumaoni district.
Chaukori in Pithoragarh district has won the hearts of travellers for decades due to its diverse flora and wildlife. It also offers spectacular views of Nanda Devi, Panchachuli, Nanda Kot, Trishul, and Chaukhamba, as well as dawn and sunset.
River rafting has also been developed in the Sharda river, a branch of the Saryu that flows through Tanakpur in Champawat district. A rafting journey along this river brings tourists through four rapids between Tanakpur's Charan Mandir and Boom Tapasvi Baba Ashram, which is 13 kilometres distant.
In addition to the popular winter destination of beautiful hikes, adventure sports, and sightseeing, Uttarkahand as a whole provides excellent chances for hiking and camping throughout the winter months, with bright sun during the day and dazzling stars at night.

So, put a stop to the hours of waiting, take a vacation from your hectic life, and pack your adventure gear and travel to Uttarakhand.
