Osprey is gaining popularity as a wine and food destination.

Chef Rolf Zahnd recently relocated his New Florida Kitchen from Sarasota to Osprey, Mel Weber established Southern Vines Fine Wine & Spirits on Tamiami Trail, and the Phelan family is soon launching Deep Lagoon on Blackburn Point Roa Statistics show that Osprey has a significant lot of money, and given that it controls the northern entry to Casey Key, it's easy to see why. Benderson Development bought a big plaza on the junction of Blackburn Point Road and Tamiami Trail that had been essentially unoccupied for years before bringing it up to contemporary standards and adding a Publix anchor. After that, the tenants, including Southern Vines, rolled in.

This seems to be a banner year for Osprey, a Census-designated place. With a population of less than 10,000 people and an area of under six square miles, the village is enjoying great growth in hotel and retail outlets.

Mel Weber is the owner of Southern Vines. The term "electronic commerce" refers to the sale of electronic goods. Weber has extensive experience in the hotel and retail industries. She, like many of us, fled the freezing north for the warmth of Florida, but unlike most of us, she came from Alaska. Northern Vines, her retail wine enterprise in Fairbanks, was named after her.
That name was updated for her new project. Her ambition is to open a comfortable neighbourhood store with a diverse assortment of popular, reasonably priced wines, as well as distinctive personal selections.Weber's first month in business was recently celebrated with a party. Her objective is to create an upmarket tasting by presenting the greatest wines and spirits, as well as artisan cheeses, diverse charcuterie products, and other deli items.
"We want great wine, bread, jams and jellies, and personalised hampers for everyone," she explains. While she is aware that Publix has substantial wine choices, she thinks her unique selections, wine tastings and outside events may more than make up for the competition. Her significant expertise offers her with contacts at small wineries, and her concentration is on spotlighting these producers, as well as other specialised winemakers that tiny Florida distributors supply.
Deep Lagoon, meantime, is an idea developed by the Phelan family, makers of Pinchers. The new store on Blackburn Point Road joins others in Naples and Fort Myers. The plan is to offer upmarket meals with a focus on seafood. The position is fantastic, just before the swing bridge, with great views of Blackburn Bay. Wines will be priced below $12 per glass, with six-ounce portions costing $8 and nine ounces costing $10-$12.
Meanwhile, Chef Rolf's New Florida Kitchen has relocated to the Casey Key Resorts Mainland. Zahnd owned the Saltwater Cafe and produced a number of TV cooking specials before moving to Sarasota. According to the restaurant's website, the food is comprehensive, as are the wine options. Another incentive to direct your way to Osprey shortly.
