Hanoi, HCMC rise in global city

destinations since the country reopened to international visitors.
In the 2022 Top 100 City Destinations list issued by British market research firm Euromonitor International, the southern metropolis increased 11 points from last year to 79th, while the capital city of Hanoi rose six spots to 88th.

Vietnam's two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Metropolitan, have risen significantly in this year's worldwide list of the 100 greatest city

The firm investigated 100 cities globally in six major categories to create the index: tourist performance, economic and commercial performance, tourism policy and appeal, tourism infrastructure, health and safety, and sustainability. Paris was crowned the world's most appealing tourism destination for the second year in a row, followed by Dubai and Amsterdam.
Madrid, Rome, London, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, and New York rounded out the top ten.

In this rating, several other Asian cities performed better than Vietnam's two largest cities, with Singapore (15th) leading the area, followed by Tokyo (20th), Seoul (26th), Shanghai (31st), Bangkok (39th), and Taipei (40th) (48th), By 2022, several areas will have removed required quarantine for inbound arrivals and eliminated necessary PCR testing, with Asia relaxing at a slower rate," Euromonitor International stated in a research. "As a result, incoming arrivals to cities throughout the world have increased dramatically."
"The return of international travel, both inbound and outbound, is expected to shake up the standings in 2023," according to Euromonitor.Vietnam reopened its borders on March 15, becoming one of the first Southeast Asian countries to do so without Covid-19 limitations.Due in part to tougher visa procedures, the number of international tourists in the first 11 months of the year was a modest 2.95 million.In the year preceding the outbreak, 2019, Vietnam welcomed 18 million foreign tourists.
