What are brokers & their role?

A stockbroker facilitates the management & execution of the trading of shares. Investors cannot buy & sell shares directly through stock exchanges. Therefore, you will need a stockbroker. The broker will buy & sell shares you want to buy or sell against a fee or commission. Stockbroker also provides contract notes, facilitates fund transfer between trading & bank accounts.

Some brokers also provide add-on services such as research, advisory, margin funding, along with facilitating buying & selling of shares.
