The IPL Auction begins at 2:30PM in Kochi. Watch how teams are preparing for the AUCTION in the FINAL HOURS.

The IPL Auction's BIG DAY has come. Today at 2:30PM, ten IPL franchises will compete for 87 SLOTS in the IPL 2023.

The IPL Governing Council has provided the franchisees with their auction brief. On Thursday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah arrived in Kochi. The teams with the largest purses, PBKS and SRH, will be the most active in the IPL Auction. With the least cash in their pockets, KKR and RCB should be the most quiet observers at today's auction. IPL Auction will feature two media partners for the first time.

Among the auction rule modifications is the addition of a tie-breaker provision in the event that clubs run out of cash to acquire players during the auction.

What is the IPL Tie-Breaker Rule?

-  If a franchisee places a final offer and is unable to make any additional bids for the player because they are tied with other franchises, the auctioneer will sell the player at the last bid price.

-  In this case, BCCI will use a tie-breaker criteria to determine which franchise would sign the player

-  Each franchisee who is tied will be invited to make a quiet written bid on a form to BCCI.

-  The highest silent bidder wins.
