Google takes on OpenAI's GPT-4, and introduces the PaLM API and MakerSuite.

Google Pathways Language Model (PaLM), like GPT, is a big language model. It can create text, graphics, code, and other things.
Google released its own AI model, PaLM, an abbreviation for Paths Language Model, in April of last year. Google stated that PaLM demonstrated "breakthrough capability on multiple very tough jobs" with 540 billion parameters.

PaLM, like GPT or LaMDA, can produce and modify text and is being taught to be a conversational bot. It may also be used to summarise tasks or build code, similar to the new generative AI features available in Workspace Apps such as Gmail and Documents.

Now, the tech titan has created an API for PaLM to compete with OpenAI's freshly unveiled GPT 4 and new AI capabilities for corporate users. According to Google, PaLM will let organizations produce text, images, code, videos, music, and other content using natural language cues. Google has introduced a new tool called MakerSuite to assist developers with PaLM. It allows users to swiftly prototype concepts and has plans to add tools for 'prompt engineering, synthetic data creation, and custom-model tweaking.'

Google Cloud will also have generative AI capabilities. This will be handy for developers that wish to modify or create their own apps or models utilizing Google's AI models. In the near future, the business wants to add capabilities such as the ability to 'find models, construct and change prompts, fine-tune them with their own data, and deploy apps' to its Vertex AI platform.

If you operate a company or work for the government and want to create an AI-powered chat interface or digital assistant, the new Generative AI app builder might be useful. The new tool 'connects conversational AI processes with out-of-the-box search experiences and foundation models,' allowing businesses to construct a generative AI application in a matter of hours or minutes.
